Cancer Worry Scale (CWS) Tool
The Cancer Worry Scale (CWS) is a short questionnaire that helps us understand how often you think about cancer and how much these thoughts affect your daily life. Many people living with chronic or rare conditions experience worries about their long‑term health, and the CWS allows us to capture this part of your wellbeing in a clear and structured way.
The questionnaire includes several statements about cancer‑related thoughts and feelings. You simply indicate how often these apply to you. There are no right or wrong answers – the goal is to understand your personal experience.
Why we ask patients with MEN‑1 to complete the CWS
People with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia type 1 (MEN‑1) have a higher risk of developing certain tumours over their lifetime. Because of this, it is completely natural to experience concerns or uncertainty about the future. The CWS helps your care team understand:
- how much cancer‑related worry affects you
- whether these worries change over time
- whether additional support, information, or reassurance might be helpful
This ensures that your emotional wellbeing is considered alongside your medical care.
How your results are used
Your answers are scored to show the level of cancer‑related worry you may be experiencing. The results are not used to diagnose anything. Instead, they help your care team:
- identify areas where you may need more support
- guide conversations during your appointments
- monitor changes in your wellbeing over time

If you are unsure how to interpret your results, or if the questionnaire raises concerns for you, please contact your doctor or care team. They are here to help you understand what the results mean for your situation.
