CrescNet

The CrescNet collaborative network (Germany) was introduced in 1998 in the University Children’s Hospital Leipzig development with the aim of early detection of disorders of growth and weight development. Pediatricians from primary and specialized care are cooperation partners of Medical faculty of Leipzig University. The register currently contains information on the growth and weight development of more than 1 million children and adolescents in health and illness.
Since 2021, the register has included a module for the extended documentation of diagnosed growth disorders (e.g. Achondroplasia, Noonan Syndrom etc.). In addition to various anthropometric values, clinical characteristics can be recorded in a standardized way (HPO-, MeSH-, HGNC-terms, selected questionnaires on patient related outcome of a treatment etc.). The majority of users of the register come from Germany and, since the installation of the new module, from other European countries as well. All collected data are pseudonymized and sent for central analysis to the database which is maintained and administered by the Leipzig University. CrescNet supports cooperation between different treatment centers in order to pursue selected scientific questions.
